About the Local Satellite Campus

The Philippines Satellite Campus was established in 2015 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). The campus offers transnational doctoral programs of the NU Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences and the Graduate School of International Development. The Satellite Campus started accepting doctoral students in Academic Year 2016. Effective Academic Year 2024, the Graduate School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies have joined the Satellite Campus and have started offering transnational doctoral programs.

Available Research Fields

The Satellite Campus in the Philippines offers doctoral degrees in the fields of engineering, bioagricultural sciences, international development, and environmental studies.

Current Activities

Between March 2016 and October 2023, a total of 20 graduate students were admitted and awarded various scholarships. Among them, 11 are ongoing students, while 9 have already graduated. The alumni are encouraged to maintain collaboration with Nagoya University through their Japanese academic advisers to continue research projects that demonstrate the impact of the transnational programs and attract support from various partner agencies.

The Satellite Campus continues to recruit highly qualified applicants for the transnational doctoral programs every year. Effective Academic Year 2024, the Graduate School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies will join the Satellite Campus and will start offering transnational doctoral programs in civil and environmental engineering.
