Open Research Study

 On June 13, 2026, the Nagoya University Cambodia Center and the Nagoya University Alumni Association Cambodia Branch hosted the Open Research Study at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC). 



Open Research Study is a platform that connects Nagoya University students and alumni in Cambodia through research-oriented activities. It showcases established research outcomes, dissertation progress, research updates, and professional experiences related to Cambodia’s local and global challenges.

Through Nagoya University’s network in Cambodia, the platform aims to create a cycle of research by identifying social challenges, encouraging research initiatives, strengthening ongoing studies, and sharing outcomes with society.

Research Outcomes

This time event welcomed around 40 participants, most joining onsite and some online, and featured the following three research outcomes in the first session:

1. Determinants and Wage Effects of Education–Job Mismatches in the Labour Market: Evidence from the Employee Skills and Job Survey in Cambodia — presented by H.E. Dr. KUOCH Somean

2. Challenges and Prospects for Inheriting Traditional Foods in Cambodia: A Case Study of Popular Fruit “Romdenh” — presented by Dr. KONG Sothea

3. Comparative Study of Forest Structure, Litterfall Production, and Forest Dynamics in Three Major Forest Types in Cambodia — presented by Dr. THAV Sopheak

Research Progress Updates

The second session presented updates on the following three ongoing research:

1. Consideration of Relevant Circumstances in Delimiting the Exclusive Economic Zone and the Continental Shelf: The Role of Non-Geographical Factors in Past Jurisprudence and Way Forward — presented by H.E. DANY Channraksmeychhoukroth

2. Legal Governance of Environmental Issues in Cambodia — presented by Dr. CHINKET Metta

3. カンボジアにおけるプラットフォーム労働に関する規制の存在と発展 (Development of Platform Work in Cambodia) — presented by Dr. SREANG Sim

The event concluded on an inspiring note, marked by active participation, thoughtful exchanges, and engaging questions from participants.
