The Uzbekistan Satellite Campus Entrance Ceremony
On April 27, 2016, the Entrance Ceremony for Uzbekistan Satellite Campus, Nagoya University Asian Satellite Campuses Institute (ASCI) was held at the International Business Center, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The ceremony included many distinguished guests such as, the Vice-President of Nagoya University, Katsuya Ichihashi, the Deputy Minister of Higher and Specialized Secondary Education, B. Usmanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Fumihiko Kato and the Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, M. Aliyev. Moreover, 47 attendees from key Uzbek government and academic institutions and representatives from Japanese organizations were present at the ceremony.
In April 2016, ASCI admitted one Uzbek student to the “Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries” offered through Nagoya University’s Graduate School of Law. The student, Mr. Sardor Alimdjanov, works in the Ministry of Finance as a chief economist. During the ceremony, the Dean of Nagoya University’s Graduate School of Law, Mitsuki Ishii gave an introduction speech that was well received by all in attendance. Prof. Fusao Ushiro, who is Mr. Sardor Alimdjanov’s doctoral studies supervisor, delivered a video message to congratulate Sardor on his entrance to the program and encourage his further studies.
During their visit to Uzbekistan, the Vice-President of Nagoya University, Katsuya Ichihashi, the Director of ASCI, Fumio Isoda, and the Dean of the Graduate School of Law, Mitsuki Ishii had productive negotiations with universities both in Tashkent and in Samarkand. The Vice-President, Katsuya Ichihashi gave a special lecture in the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and at Tashkent State University of Law. Additionally, the Director of ASCI, Fumio Isoda gave a special lecture at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. All three special lectures attracted large audiences.
