ASCI Research Presentation for the 2021 Autumn Graduates
Due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, ASCI celebrated the achievement of ASCI graduates by holding an online graduation ceremony on September 27, 2021. The ceremony connected Nagoya University ASCI with people located mainly in Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines because these countries were represented by the five graduates: Dr. Ong Socheath of the Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences (GSBS), Dr. Mon Sreyleak of the Graduate School of International Development, Dr. Louangpradith Viengsakhone of the Graduate School of Medicine, Dr. Simone Vongkhamho of GSBS and Dr. Thelma Saludes Almendral GSBS.
The new ASCI Director, Prof. Yamauchi Akira kicked off the ceremony with his opening remarks. This was followed by congratulatory messages by Prof. Fujimaki Akira, Vice President of Nagoya University, Prof Hamajima Nobuyuki, Designated Professor of Graduate School of Medicine, Prof. Tsuchikawa Satoru, Dean of Graduate School of Bioagricultural Sciences, and Prof. Okada Aya, Dean of Graduate School of International Development. Following this the graduates presented their research that was expressed in their dissertations.
Prof. Chiba Sotaro had to present for Dr. Ong Socheath because she could not attend due to uncontrollable circumstances. The title of her work was Occurrence, Distribution, Genetic Variability and Biological Properties of Bacterial Rice Pathogens in Cambodia. This was followed by Dr. Mon Sreyleak who spoke about her research Essays on the Exchange Rate Policy. Then Dr. Louangpradith Viengsakhone presented her research on Trends and Risk Factors for Infant Mortality in Lao People's Democratic Republic. Dr. Simone Vongkhamho gave his research talk on “Influence of Site Conditions on Teak Growth and Traits in the Lao PDR. The last presenter was Dr. Thelma Saludes Almendral dealing with her findings in Developing Smallholder Dairy Buffalo Farm Productivity Through Improvement of Nutrition, Body Condition, and Milk Production in South Luzon, Philippines.

Lastly, Prof. Kawakita Kazuhito, Vice President of Nagoya University, expressed his congratulations and best wishes to ASCI graduates and closed the ceremony.
