NUASCH-PH and UPLB-OIDHE spearhead webinar on graduate studies and research opportunities at UPLB and beyond

On May 21, 2024, NUASC-PH and the UPLB Office of Institutional Development in Higher Education (UPLB-OIDHE) organized a webinar titled "Graduate Studies and Research Opportunities at UPLB and Beyond: Orientation on UPLB’s Programs." The event aimed to showcase the NU-ASCI Transnational Doctoral Programs for Leading Professionals in Asian Countries and highlight UPLB's graduate studies and research opportunities.
 
Around 420 individuals from 38 institutions across the Philippines and beyond registered for the webinar,  and more than half successfully connected online. Attendees included faculty members of state universities and colleges (SUCs), college deans, directors of academic affairs, institute directors, program heads,  university researchers, science research specialists, graduate students, secondary school teachers, laboratory and administrative officers, and heads of departments of government agencies. Notable institutions represented included Nagoya University, and 37 SUCs from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Government agencies such as the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) of the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Education, and the Department of Science and Technology were also represented.
 
In his welcome remarks, UPLB Chancellor Dr. Jose V. Camacho Jr. underscored the partnership between NU and UP and highlighted the NU-ASCI Transnational Doctoral Programs which provide opportunities for mid to high-level professionals wishing to pursue their doctorate without leaving their current positions. He enjoined those qualified to apply and benefit from this partnership. Dr. Jenielyn T. Padrones, Director of OIDHE, presented the programs of her office, while Dr. Mary Jean G. Bulatao, Director and Designated Associate Professor of NUASC-PH, in turn, detailed the Transnational Doctoral Programs of ASCI. Dr. Pamela A. Custodio, the Secretary of the UPLB Graduate School, provided an overview of the current programs of the Graduate School, while the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, Dr. Nathaniel C. Bantayan presented the programs of his office.
 
During the open forum, questions about scholarships, qualifications, fields of study that are available, partnerships, and possible collaborations were addressed. The webinar concluded with the closing remarks from Dr. Agham C. Cuevas, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, who expressed gratitude to everyone for their interest and participation. (MGBulatao)
